A system that consists of the gastrointestinal tract (mouth, pharynx, esophangus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine) and accessory digestive organs (teeth, tongue, salivary glands, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas). Its function is to beak down foods into small molecules that can be used by body cells. (1)
