Sources include grains, vegetable oils, and grain-fed animal proteins. The biological effects of the omega-6 fatty acids are largely mediated by their interactions with the omega-3 fatty acids—excessive levels of omega-6 acids, relative to omega-3 fatty acids, may increase the probability of a number of diseases. The omega-6s are generally considered to be pro-inflammatory. (4)
