Term: Gastric Glands

Glands in the mucosa of the stomach composed of cells that empty their secretions into narrow channels called gastric pits. Types of cells are chief cells (secrete hydrochloride acid and intrinstic factor), surface mucous and mucous neck cells (secrete mucus), and G cells (secrete gastrin). (1)
